Annabelle Toms Smith, age 96

Annabelle Toms Smith, age 96 of Forest City died Sunday, March 19, 2023.

Annabelle was born May 29, 1926 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late George Pinkney Toms and Eula Edgerton Toms.

She worked alongside her husband as they owned and operated Monk's Store for many years.

Annabelle was a member of Element Church, a former member of V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, and when her health allowed, she was active at Rutherford Senior Center where she was Head Cheerleader for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin William "Monk" Smith, and siblings, Mary Langston, Worth Toms and Grace Philbeck.

Survivors include her son Michael Smith of Forest City, sister, Ruth Toms Hodge of Forest City and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The funeral was held March 23 in The Padgett and King Chapel.
