East-Central Split On Basketball Court

East-Central Split On Basketball Court

Last week, not only did conference play begin, but county rival games did so on the basketball court.

East Rutherford and R-S Central battled first this past week with the East boys outlasting Central 81-76.

Jay Blanton went on a three-point rampage, hitting eight for the Hilltoppers in scoring 33, but Jarvis Hopper nearly matched that effort scoring 29 with four other Cavs in double figures.

During the latter half of the week, Devonte Boykins returned as the Cavs dismantled Patton. After an ACL injury sidelined him for six months, it’s good to see Boykins back on court.

In Rutherford County... U.S. Postal Service Returns To Its Roots

The United States Postal Service is an independent agency of the United States government responsible for providing postal service in the United States. Most people are not aware that it is one of the few government agencies explicitly authorized by the United States Constitution!

It became a cabinet-level position in 1792 which made the postmaster general ninth in line for the presidency of the United States. That changed in 1971 under the Postal Reorganization Act.

Listen To Life

What’s your legacy?

I was at a funeral recently for a woman who had two grandsons. Both of these guys gave her eulogy.  That’s pretty tough when you’re close with your grandmother like these two obviously were.

I was greatly intrigued by their eulogy. These two grandsons didn’t talk about what lavish gifts they received from their grandmother or expensive trips she took them on.

Outdoor Truths

Outdoor Truths

It was my last day of deer hunting for the year. I was pressing the issue as I eased out an old dirt road. Planted pines and thickets made bookends for my path, and I knew that at any time, a buck could peek out. Even though my biceps got tired, I carried my gun in the ready position. I knew that if an opportunity came it would be fleeting.

During the previous days I had hunted that same road as I went to my tree stand, and there were signs along the way but the weather had been unbearable for man or beast.
