She bought the practice June 1 and got married to Kevin McEntire on June 12! To meet her is to meet a very positive, self-assured go getter who wants the absolute best for herself and everyone. The reason she became a chiropractic physician was because of the wonderful personal experience she had as a young swimmer. As a competitive free style swimmer specializing in the 500 she developed discomfort and pain in her neck and left shoulder. Her mother told her she was taking her to a chiropractor. Dr. Sarah, at the time in tenth grade, said "Why?" Later, after treatments, her problems were corrected and she even not only felt better but swam faster. She discovered that she wanted to give back to people the same wonderful experience she had. She told her family she wanted to become a chiropractor. Sarah had become a believer. To everyone's surprise, that never changed.
After attending and graduating from the University of Pittsburgh, she applied and was accepted at Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The school was the closest to her home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is a four year program, very intense and year round. Sarah Ruth Merrison not only graduated on December 16, 2006 but also received some scholarships to help her achieve her goal. Now, she needed a job. Enter, her future husband, Kevin. While she and her family visited Lake Lure and took a boat tour, Sarah met Kevin. The result was they started dating and fell in love. Kevin McEntire who works at East Rutherford High School, teaching and coaching, took the job at Lake Lure to do something during the summer months. Kevin asked Sarah if she would stay in the area. He was born and raised in Rutherford County. Consequently, after graduation, they collectively began to look for a job for the new Dr. Sarah Merrison.
They reviewed all possibilities and because some of Kevin's football players had been to Carolina Chiropractic Plus, 152 West Main Street in Forest City, he suggested that Sarah try there first. She called owner, Dr. Danielle Rogers and made an appointment. When they met Danielle she hired Sarah on the spot. That was about four years ago. When Danielle became pregnant this past year and had her third child, she wanted to stay home and spend more time with her children. That provided the opportunity for the then Dr. Sarah Merrison to be offered the opportunity to buy the practice. Finally on June 1st of this year, she bought the practice.
Sarah is very intense and full of positive energy. She wants the best for everyone. Her practice is the only one in Rutherford County that exclusively offers digital x-ray, decompression, and the pro-adjuster. They are all state of the art. At her wedding, her maid of honor, her sister Sydney, stated that Sarah was "driven to the core" and warned Kevin that because of her intensity he better "put his seat belt on" and get ready for the ride!
Sarah has added Dr. Lillian Thomas to her staff and is very happy about having her own practice. Suffice to say, she is very committed.
Debra Webb, a patient on a maintenance program told us recently: "If I didn't come here regularly, I couldn't walk!" The believability of both doctor and patient is very obvious.
