Barbara Eloise Powell, age 96

Barbara Eloise Powell, age 96, of Ellenboro, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023.

Barbara was born December 19, 1926 in Rutherford County to the late Walter Winslow Padgett and Cordie Cora Goforth Padgett. She was a graduate of Ellenboro High School. Barbara worked many years for Celanese Manufacturing and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She also worked for Wilkey's Greenhouse.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Walter Powell; son, Walter Gene Powell; brothers, Calvin and Hubert Padgett and a sister, Beatrice Lavender.

Those left to cherish her memory include sons, Wayne Powell (Jane) of Bostic and Ronnie Powell (Gilda); sister, Diane Padgett Hewitt of Forest City; brother, Norman Padgett of Bostic; three grandsons, one great-granddaughter,.

The funeral was held April 17 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. David Easler officiating.
