Basic Culinary Skills course begins January 22

The Basic Culinary Skills course is back and will begin on Monday, January 22, 2024. The classes will continue to run Mondays through Thursdays from 1 to 5pm for 12 weeks. To reserve a spot, contact Dee Spurlin at 828-395-1416 or dspurlin@isothermal.edu.

The intensive training will cover the concepts, skills, and techniques involved in volume food production for restaurant or institutional settings. Emphasis will be on the development of knife skills, tool and equipment handling, and the principles of food preparation and safety.

Students who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion from Isothermal Community College.

The class will be held in the college's culinary training facility at the Rutherford Opportunity Center in Forest City.

The cost for the program includes a $180 course registration fee and $30 for a professional chef's jacket, and non-slip sole shoes.
