Bill Self, age 80

Bill Self, age 80, of Forest City, passed away February 13, 2022.

Bill was born July 13, 1941 in Many, Louisiana to the late William Dewey Self and Myrtie Ellie Wilson Self. He served honorably in the US Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Bill retired from the Army National Guard after 23 years of service. He worked for Spindale Mill for many years. Bill was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Self.

Left to cherish fond memories include a daughter, Sandra Scruggs (Reid) of Gaffney; stepson, Keith Barnett of Pennsylvania; sisters, Josephine Self Starks and Millie Self Wise and brothers, George W. Self and Dennis Self, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was conducted February 18, 2022 at Eternal Hills Memorial Park with Rev. Ernie Cole officiating. Military honors were accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
