Book A Librarian

Rutherford County Library System is excited to announce our newest program which will allow for personalized, time intensive, one-on-one patron interaction. Book A Librarian is the newest service offered by Rutherford County Library System.

Book A Librarian sessions are tailored to meet the specific needs of the individual. A library staff member will give undivided attention to patrons who want in-depth assistance. This service is FREE to any Rutherford County Library card holder. Individual staff members of Rutherford County Library System have subject specific training and are excited to work more closely with patrons in different capacities. If a staff member at the preferred branch is not available for the patron's specific need, we will find a staff member in a different branch to assist the patron. This service will be available at Rutherford County Library (255 Callahan Koon Road, Spindale), Haynes Branch Library (2669 US Hwy 221A, Mooresboro), and Mountains Branch Library (150 Bill's Creek Road, Lake Lure).

Sample areas of assistance are: setting up and learning how to use email, searching for and downloading eBooks and eAudiobooks on your personal computer or mobile device, helping with personal, school, or business related research projects, basic computer skills, exploring new book and author suggestions based on patron preferences, helping generate a professional resume, and much more. The opportunities for assistance are plentiful! Book A Librarian presenters can also be requested to speak to your club / civic organization / or business group about library services.

While we assist patrons on a daily basis with the above services, Book A Librarian will allow us uninterrupted, more personalized service. Book A Librarian sessions will last 30-60 minutes - depending on patron need.

Book A Librarian requests can be made by seeing any staff member at any participating branch to fill out the request form or by visiting www.rutherfordcountylibrary.org and clicking on "Book A Librarian" and filling out the request form. We ask that appointments be requested at least 48 hours in advance so that library staff can find the Librarian best suited to your needs.

Book A Librarian cannot be used to provide help with legal, medical, or tax advice; filling out legal, medical, or tax forms; or repairing patron computer equipment or mobile devices.
