Captain Craig Robert Bailey, age 81, passed away November 20, 2021.

Craig served in the US Navy from 1958 until his honorable discharge in 1964, as a missile man on some of the last diesel-powered submarines ever commissioned. This included his last stint on the USS Corporal a "spook boat" operating above the Arctic Circle. In 1965 he briefly attended the University of Iowa. He moved to Boston in 1966 and started his maritime career and family. Relocating to Miami, Florida in 1970, he began a series of stints on fishing vessels, yachts and merchant ships in the Atlantic, Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico. By the early eighties he had turned his focus to commercial towing. He kept working at sea into his 70's, as he moved to Western North Carolina.

He is survived by his brother Jay Bailey, son; Frederick Bailey, daughter; Carina Bailey, one granddaughter and ex-wife Blanca Lippisch.
