Carter Douglas Shires, of Ellenboro, NC, infant son of Amber Shires and Dustin Morrow, entered into to his Heavenly Father’s presence on Friday, May 31, 2013. 

      Carter was born June 20, 2011 in Rutherford County, NC.  He was an angel sent to this world to show love, joy and happiness to his family and friends.  He always had a smile on his face and will always be remembered as God’s little gift of joy.

      He is preceded by two uncles, Jamie Wright and Jonathan Hamrick and grandfather, Gary Douglas Shires.

      In addition to his parents, he is survived by paternal grandparents, James Morrow and wife, Lisa of Ellenboro and Crystal Chaney and husband, David of Spartanburg; great paternal grandparents, Garland and Judy Hoppes of Ellenboro; maternal grandparents, Darlene Shires and Wesley Hamrick both of Bostic; maternal great grandparents, Lowell Hamrick of Ellenboro, Pat Hamrick of Shelby, Myron and Vivian Wright of Ellenboro, Ray Shires of Ellenboro, and Lee and Diane Stamey of Lincolnton; maternal great-great grandparents, Ralph and Christine Goode of Spindale.  He is also survived by one aunt, Keela Payne of Gaffney and uncle, Justin Butler of Ellenboro.

     Funeral services will be conducted at 11am on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Leon Brown officiating.  Interment will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. 

     Memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
