Chalmer Jayson Arrowood, 96

Chalmer Jayson Arrowood, 96, of Rutherfordton, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016.

He was the son of the late Samuel Clarence and Lula Minibelle Melton Arrowood. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years Betty Harris Arrowood. Chalmer's "Chad's" life was devoted to raising his family and was known for his love of hard work as a carpenter and construction worker. He built many buildings still in use here in Rutherford County and quite a few homes. He was an inspiration for hard work to all who knew him. Chalmer was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, June Carver of Sandy Mush, NC, Jennifer Callahan of Apopka, FL, Karla Wilson of McDonough, GA and Keith Arrowood of Forest City, NC. Five grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; siblings Earl Clarence Arrowood and Ruby Rae Holland. Chalmer had 12 siblings in all.

Funeral services were held with Son-in-Law Rudy Callahan officiating. Interment will be private.

Crowe's Mortuary is assisting the family.
