Charles Griffin Hamrick, age 94 of Ellenboro

Charles Griffin Hamrick, age 94 of Ellenboro died Monday, April 27, 2026.

Charles was born February 14, 1932, in Ellenboro on the same farm where he died. He was a son of the late Winfred and Eva Griffin Hamrick.

Charles was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, and he was a Master Mechanic. He worked for Carolina Freight in Cherryville where he retired as supervisor of Road Tractor Maintenance. Charles also served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Matheny Hamrick who died in 1995 and his brother, Gerald Hamrick.

Survivors include his sons, Gary Hamrick and wife Dee of Ellenboro, and Russell Hamrick and wife Melissa of Bostic, his daughter, Linda Hamrick Shehan and husband Dean of Hickory, his grandchildren, Rebecca, John, Andy, and Abby as well as a number of great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held May 5, 2026, in The Padgett and King Chapel with Rev. Chris Glawson officiating. Military honors were accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
