Cindy Toney Thompson, age 66 of the Sunshine Community

Cindy Toney Thompson, age 66 of the Sunshine Community died Sunday, September 21, 2025.

Cindy was born May 13, 1959, in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Forrest Yates Toney and Nancy Condrey Toney.

Cindy was a graduate of East Rutherford High School and Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte. She worked for many as a dental hygienist for Dr. Frank Jones, DDS in Forest City.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Ricky Thompson.

Survivors include her son, Zachary Thompson and wife Kaytlin of Bostic, her granddaughter, Madelyn Thompson, her brother, Forrest Toney, Jr., of Ellenboro, and her sisters, Beverley Toney Hudson of Bostic, and Myra Toney Waters and husband Sam of Casar.

The funeral service will be held at 3pm Thursday, September 25 at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church with Rev. Paul White, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will have visitation from 2-3pm prior to the service in the sanctuary.
