CMSAF (Ret.) Bill Duckworth, age 68

CMSAF (Ret.) Bill Duckworth, age 68, of Mooresboro, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017.

Born April 25, 1949 in Mecklenburg County, he was a son to the late Harold Duckworth and Elizabeth Jenkins Duckworth. He was a graduate of Clover Park High School and received a Masters Degree from Webster University. Bill was veteran of the United States Air Force and earned the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He was a veteran of Vietnam and Desert Storm and honorably retired after thirty years of service to his country. Bill was a member of Beaver Baptist Church and enjoyed carpentry and woodworking. He was an avid golfer, but his life's passion was his family. He loved them dearly and was loved by all who knew him. Bill was also known for his generous heart toward others.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, David Wayne Duckworth. Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife of forty-six years, Dianna Duckworth; son, William A Duckworth of Hickory; two brothers, Danny Duckworth and wife, Patty of Lincolnton and Ronnie Duckworth of Fayetteville, NC; one sister, Gail Bianco of Fuquay-Varina, NC. He is also survived by two grandchildren.

The funeral service was conducted at the Beaver Dam Baptist Church with Reverend Joe Edwards and Mr. Tom Runyon officiating. Interment followed in Sandy Run Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors being rendered by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
