Music at the Mills

Come spend an hour and relax, learn, and make friends with caregivers in the same situation. Domestic Violence Education/Support Group
Women who are victims of domestic abuse, or who never want to become victims, are invited to a free Domestic Violence Education/Support Group which meets 2 hours each week on Tuesdays.  Contact Dr. Johnnie Martin @828-286-9590 or Sally Claroni @ 828-245-1390, Ext. 104 for times and location.  Great information, interesting activities, and a caring, supportive environment.  
 
Stuff the Bus
Communities In Schools of Rutherford County kicked off their annual month-long school supply drive at Walmart, Shoppers can drop off donations of schools supplies that will be given to in Rutherford County. Donation hours: Friday & Saturday, 9am-7pm and Sunday, 12pm-6pm. As you shop for your school supplies, please consider purchasing a little extra for children who can’t afford to buy them. Invites all girls in grades K-12 to come to a FREE Swimming Event on Sat. Aug. 17, 6-8pm at the Callison Recreation Center: 217 Clay St. Forest City. Light snack provided. Every girl must have a parent present to sign a permission slip before they can participate.

Race to the Rock
Sun. Aug. 25; registration at 6:30am, cyclists at 7:30am, runners at 8am. Distance: 5K run or 25-mile bike. Take the challenge! The Park’s winding entrance road climbs uphill an average of 7-9%, but the breathtaking 75-mile views of Lake Lure and the Hickory Nut Gorge at the finish line are well worth the effort. This is the ONLY TIME ever you can run or bike up to Chimney Rock.
