Stuff the Bus
Communities In Schools of Rutherford County kicked off their annual month-long school supply drive at Walmart, Shoppers can drop off donations of schools supplies that will be given to in Rutherford County. Hours: Fri & Sat, 9am-7pm & Sun, 12pm-6pm. As you shop for your school supplies, please consider purchasing a little extra for children who can’t afford to buy them. Race to the Rock
Sun. Aug. 25; registration at 6:30am, cyclists at 7:30am, runners at 8am. Distance: 5K run or 25-mile bike. The Park’s winding entrance road climbs uphill an average of 7-9%, but the breathtaking 75-mile views of Lake Lure and the Hickory Nut Gorge at the finish line are well worth the effort.

6 wk Family-to-Family classes are structured to help families understand and support individuals with serious mental illness while maintaining their own well being. Pregnancy Resource Center 
Annual “Walk for Life” Sat. Sept. 7, 9:30am-11:30am at Bethel Baptist Ch; 606 S. DeKalb St. Shelby. Allows individuals, families & churches within the community to participate in the life saving work of the Pregnancy Resource Center of Cleveland Co. Funds raised help provide alternatives to abortion for moms, dads and families facing crisis pregnancies in Cleveland Co. Cook Smart, Eat Smart Cooking School
Sept. 5, 12, 19 & 26, 2-5pm or 5:30-8:30pm. Cost $25 per person. Learn to prepare simple, healthy and delicious food. Each session features a variety of cooking techniques, nutritional information, money-saving tips, and recipes. Beginners and seasoned cooks alike are welcome. Great for young adults, parents, singles, older adults and anyone else who wants to hone his or her cooking skills and eat healthy. Support Group - 3rd Tuesday of Every Month
If you are caring for a loved one with a debilitating disease we offer resources, education, and support on your journey. Come spend an hour and relax, learn, and make friends with caregivers in the same situation. Domestic Violence Education/Support Group
