David “Nut” Thompson, age 52

David “Nut” Thompson, age 52, of Forest City, NC, passed away Friday, May 18, 2012.

    David was born July 25, 1959 in El Paso, TX.  He was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1977 and worked as a sheet metal foreman.  He most recently worked on the completion of the Facebook data center.  He enjoyed fishing and was an avid NASCAR fan.  He was also a member of High Shoal Baptist Church.

    He was preceded in death by two wives, Carla Thompson and Angie Jo Thompson.

    Survivors include his mother, Atrice “Red” Thompson of Ellenboro; two sons, David Thompson and wife, Debbie of Ellenboro and Nathan Thompson of Forest City; one daughter, Tina Hamrick of Forest City; one brother, Michael Thompson and wife, Wanda of Landrum, SC; two sisters, Tammy Stacey and husband, Todd and Teresa Thompson all of Ellenboro. He is also survived by five grandchildren.

    Funeral services were conducted at High Shoal Baptist Church with Reverend Michael Pardue and Reverend Eugene Passmore officiating.  Interment followed in the church cemetery with military honors accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Harrelson Funeral Home, 1251 US Highway 221A, Forest City, NC  28043 to help defray funeral costs.
