Delores "Dolly" Cordell, age 90

Delores "Dolly" Cordell, age 90, of Bostic, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, May 26, 2023.

Dolly was born November 14, 1932 in Union, SC to the late Dean Lee Davis and Marguerite Garner Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin David Cordell.

Dolly was a graduate of RS Central High School and Rutherford Hospital School of nursing. Her early career was spent at Rutherford Hospital. Dolly also worked with Dr. Becknell in 1961. She returned to the hospital in 1963. Dolly was inducted into the Great 100 in 1993, which honors Registered Nurses for their excellence in practice and commitment to the profession of nursing in N.C. She retired after 45 years. She helped create the Rutherford Hospital Museum. She served on the Hospice Board of Directors from 1991-1997.

She was a life long member of Spencer Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Deborah Deck and husband Terry of Forest City; two granddaughters, four great grandchildren, her brother Larry Davis and wife Bertha.

A celebration of life was held June 3 at Spencer Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Caldwell officiating.
