Dennis F. Burgess, age 80

Dennis F. Burgess, age 80, of Ellenboro, passed away Friday, November 23, 2018.

Born January 29, 1938 in Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Joseph Dennis Burgess and Bessie Davis Burgess. Dennis was a graduate of Tri-High School. He served as a deputy sheriff for the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department for many years and owned and operated Burgess Wrecker Service and Garage for over forty years. Dennis was a member of High Shoal Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James "David" Burgess.

Those left to cherish his memory, include his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Diane Burgess; two daughters, Denise Burgess Waters and husband, David of Mooresboro and Kimberly Ledford of Ellenboro; two sons, Joey Burgess and Jeffery Burgess both of Ellenboro and one sister, Joann Jenkins also of Ellenboro. He is also survived by six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was conducted at High Shoal Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
