Denton "Cowboy" Dalton, 88, of Forest City, died Wednesday, October 12, 2022.

He was the son of the late Samuel and Maudie Dalton. Denton retired from PPG Industries and served in the Army during the Korean war.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Peggy Wyatt, sister Grenada Dalton, 6 brothers, Ostell, Adrian, O'Neil, Pernell, Daniel, and Buren Dalton.

He is survived by his wife, Grace, daughter Katherine Craig and husband Daniel of Rutherfordton, sons Harold Dean Dalton and wife Nancy of Lawndale, Ronald Dalton and wife Pam, Donald Dalton, and Roger Dalton and wife Valerie, all of Rutherfordton; stepdaughter, Maryanne Riffle and husband Dale, of Pigeon Forge, TN; 16 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren, and many great great grandchildren.

A graveside service was held October 15 at Sandy Level Baptist Church. The Rev. Aaron Stroupe officiated. The Rutherford County Honor Guard rendered the Military Rites.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38150.
