Donald R. Smith, age 74

Donald R. Smith, age 74, of Bostic, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019.

Donald was born July 28, 1944 in Rutherford County to the late Roy Smith and Alma Honeycutt Smith. He worked as a self-employed painting contractor for many years and enjoyed building, farming and raising hogs. Gardening, canning and fishing were some of his favorite pastimes. Donald was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and a great-grandson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his life-mate, Edna Mae Yelton; four daughters, Lora Smith Cole (Brian) of Rutherfordton, Lisa Smith Koone of Forest City, Doris Marie Smith of Florida and Donelle Smith of Winston-Salem, NC and one son, Donald Alvin Smith of Guilford, Vermont. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.

There was a gathering of family and friends at Harrelson Funeral Home.
