Dr. Herman Bruce Norville Sr., age 82, of the Green Creek community, died Friday, January 27, 2023.
He was a native of Rutherford County and son of the late Manley and Nan Guffey Norville.
He was a graduate of RS Central High School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Pfeiffer College, a Master of Arts from Appalachian State University, an Education Specialist Degree from Appalachian State University and a Doctor of Education Degree from the University of N.C. at Greensboro. After retiring from teaching for 30 years in Rutherford County, he taught English at Spartanburg Methodist College.
He was also preceded in death by his sisters; Lois Elizabeth Norville and Dr. Annie Sue Norville McIntire and brothers; Russell Manley Norville, Hicks Edward Norville and Robert Howard Norville.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years; Helen Beaver Norville, one daughter Dana Norville Dedmond and husband Barnaby Todd Dedmond of Chapin, SC, one son Herman Bruce Norville Jr. of Green Creek, two granddaughters, two grandsons, one great-grandson.
The Funeral was held at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel January 29, 2023 with Rev. Buster King officiating.
