Dwight "Buddy" Francis Ferguson, 88, of Rutherfordton

Dwight "Buddy" Francis Ferguson, 88, of Rutherfordton, passed away August 16, 2026.

Buddy was born January 22, 1938, in Rutherford County, NC, to the late Zeb Laxton Jay Ferguson and Mary Ethel Haulk Ferguson. Buddy proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during his service. He later worked in the electric utility industry for nearly four decades before retiring from Pike Electric.

Buddy was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and in various other capacities.

In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Brenda Jane Dycus Ferguson; his seven siblings; and one grandchild, Chris Ferguson.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, David Ferguson (Denise) and Melissa Williams (Galen); his grandchildren, Sara, Anthony, Brannon, and Brooklyn; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, August 23 at 4pm at Shiloh Baptist Church, Rutherfordton, with Rev. Jason Toney officiating. The family will receive friends from 3-3:45pm.

In lieu of flowers donations will be made to Meals on Wheels; 193 Callahan Koon Rd., #132, Spindale, NC 28160.
