Elnita Bailey Jolley, 95, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017.

She was born November 15, 1921 in Cleveland County, the wife of the late R. D. Jolley and the daughter of the late G. L "Jack" Bailey and Ola Godfrey. She was a member of Prospect Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, was a Sunday School Teacher and was the oldest living mother in the church. She was a retired Hairdresser for 36 years after working at Cone Mills for 18 years. Elnita loved to cook and Sunday lunch was her favorite meal. She was devoted to her family, her church and her God. Elnita was the true definition of a mother.

Survivors include a daughter, Rita Traylor and husband, Ben of Boiling Springs, NC; a son Eddie Jolley and wife, Rebecca of Forest City; a sister, Helen Hullett and husband, Kate of Mooresboro; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, R. D. Jolley and three brothers, Melvin "Bo" Bailey and wife, Doris, Edward Bailey and wife, Gertrude and Junior Bailey.

A funeral service was held at Prospect Baptist Church with Pastor Glenn Walker officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Cleveland Pines Nursing Center for their love and compassion.
