East Rutherford High School dominated the 2026 RCS County Championships in swimming on Jan. 16, sweeping the combined, girls, and boys team titles. The Cavaliers finished with 389 combined points, winning the girls championship with 182 points and the boys championship with 207 points.
East Rutherford swimmers claimed victories in nearly every event group. On the girls side, Ava Greene won the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke, Hannah Baughman captured the 50 freestyle, Molly Randolph won the 100 freestyle, and Caitlin Allen swept the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke. The Cavaliers also won the girls 200 medley relay and placed second in both freestyle relays.
The East Rutherford boys were equally strong, led by Ryken Randolph with wins in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly, Lucas Harris in the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle, and Brylan Chapman in the 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. The Cavaliers took first in all three boys relays to seal another dominant county championship performance.
Chase High School
Chase High School finished second overall at the RCS County Championships and placed second in the girls team standings, highlighted by strong individual wins and relay depth.
Peyton Arrowood led the Chase girls with victories in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle, while the Chase relay team captured first place in both the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay. Faith Perry added a third-place finish in the 100 freestyle, and multiple Chase swimmers placed in the top six across sprint and middle-distance events.
Chase's consistent finishes throughout the meet allowed the Trojans to remain competitive in the team race and secure a strong runner-up finish at the county championships.
RS Central High School
RS Central High School placed third overall at the RCS County Championships and turned in several podium finishes across individual and relay events.
William Mathes led the RS Central boys with second-place finishes in both the 200 IM and 500 freestyle, while Ava Watson highlighted the girls team with a third-place finish in the 50 freestyle and a runner-up performance in the 100 backstroke. RS Central swimmers also contributed points in breaststroke and relay events.
The Hilltoppers capped the meet with solid relay performances in both the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay, closing out a competitive showing and valuable championship experience at the county meet.
