Evelyn Boyce Sanders Sappenfield, 94

Evelyn Boyce Sanders Sappenfield, 94, of Forest City, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2022.

Born March 22, 1928, in Pageland, SC, she was the daughter of the late Boyce Heath and Annie Hicks Sanders. She was preceded in death by son, James A. Sappenfield, III, and sister, Rachel Sanders Fuller.

Evelyn and her family moved to Kannapolis, NC where she met her future husband of 71 years, James A. "Jim" Sappenfield, on a blind date. She was a member of Advent Lutheran Church, Spindale.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Jim; sons, Jeffrey Scott Sappenfield and wife, Patti, and Craig Heath Sappenfield and wife, Barbara; daughter-in-law, Susan; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two nieces.

Graveside services were held May 30 at Cool Springs Cemetery with Rev. Dave Hinkleman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for memorials to be made to Advent Lutheran Church, 118 Revely St., Spindale, NC 28160, Rutherford County Library, 255 Callahan Koon Rd., Spindale, NC 28160 or Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
