Evelyn Ellery Toms age 97

Evelyn Ellery Toms age 97 of Mount Dora, Florida and a former resident of Forest City, NC passed away Monday, September 7, 2020.

Born December 24, 1922 in Cincinnati, Ohio she was the third of seven children of the late Arthur S. Ellery and Martha Brockell Ellery.

In 1981, Evelyn married Paul Smith Toms and they enjoyed 35 years of marriage until his death on March 12, 2016.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Paula Jean Durrette, five sisters, Dorothy Selby, Vera Weyer, Eunice Feather, Bertha Odom and Sara Harsh, as well as a brother, Arthur "Art" Ellery.

Surviving are three sons, Charles A. Gehring and wife, Janice of Mount Dora, Florida, Darryl B. Gehring and wife, Suzn of Billings, Montana and Terry A. Gehring and wife, Alice of Crystal River, Florida; two step-sons, Jerry Toms and wife, Annette of Liberty, NC and Richard Toms and wife, Tammy of Chesapeake, Virginia. Five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.

A Service from the Graveside will be held Thursday morning, September 10, 2020 at 11 o'clock at the Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
