Evelyn Frances Carswell, 91, of Forest City

Evelyn Frances Carswell, 91, of Forest City, NC, died Monday, December 30, 2025.

Born in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Emma Lee Arrowood Carswell.

Evelyn retired after 25 years of teaching with McDowell County Schools. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Forest City, an avid researcher of genealogy and history, and also loved animals and her trees. Evelyn graduated from Gardner-Webb University and Appalachian State University.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Tom Carswell and sister, Barbara C. Washburn.

Survivors include her nephews, Richard Washburn (Juanita) of Bostic, and Tom Carswell (Laura) of Clarksville, GA; her niece, Sherry Whittington (Tom) of Greenville, SC, and sister-in-law, Kay Young Carswell of Bostic.

The funeral was held January 4 in the Padgett & King Chapel with interment following in the Cool Springs Cemetery.
