The N.C. Cooperative Extension Master Food Volunteer program provides volunteers with an opportunity to extend the work of Cooperative Extension in the areas of food systems, healthy eating, cooking, and food safety. After completing 30 hours of required core training and another 30 hours of shadowing, Extension Master Food Volunteers commit 20 hours of service annually to Family and Consumer Sciences through Cooperative Extension.

The program also provides opportunities for Extension Master Food Volunteers to develop skills in leadership, community engagement, and food literacy. Volunteers will assist with youth nutrition programs, cooking classes, health fairs, food demonstrations, farmers market events, and many other activities.

Anyone interested in becoming an Extension Master Food Volunteer, contact Cooperative Extension at 828-287-6010 or rutherford.ces.ncsu.edu.
