Facebook's Forest City Data Center has donated 18 computers to the Basic Law Enforcement Training program at Isothermal Community College.

The reconditioned Apple computers were presented to BLET coordinator Philip Bailey during a brief ceremony last week.

"These computers will go a long way toward enhancing the learning environment for our students," said Bailey. "Today's law enforcement officers have to be up on the latest technology, whether it's filling out reports or looking up codes and statutes. We really appreciate Facebook stepping up to provide this much-needed classroom technology."

The BLET program is the state-mandated class for all people who want to serve as law enforcement officers in North Carolina.

The next class starts Aug. 18. For more details, contact Bailey at 828-395-1644 or Brenda McFarland at 828-395-1668.
