Everyone knows that music soothes the soul, but it must also keep you young at heart if you follow the example of Joseph and Kathleen Erwin of Tryon, North Carolina. Come to the Foothills Equestrian Nature Center (FENCE) on March 17, 2013 at 4pm to hear this “mature” 90 year old couple perform. Joseph says, “We are glad to be back at FENCE and we look forward to seeing you at the concert.”
Joseph and Kathleen met while both were students at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. After graduation Joe added music education to his repertoire when he accepted Juilliard’s invitation to join the faculty.
We are fortunate to be able to share the Erwin’s music right here in Polk County. Please join us for this free event, sponsored by the Kirby Endowment at Polk County Community Foundation. The program is “Transforming Life’s Dissonance into Consonance”. The final musical offering is an original composition written by Joseph setting a poem by nature poet Gwen Frostick to music. Although this piece was originally written for choral ensemble, it will be performed by piano and violin at the concert.
