Fredrick Allen (Freddy) Baynard, age 76 of Spindale

Fredrick Allen (Freddy) Baynard, age 76 of Spindale died Sunday, March 22, 2026.

Freddy, as he was known to his family and friends, was born January 16, 1950, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Fred Melvin Baynard and Margaret Burnett Baynard.

Freddy was a lifelong Baptist and a graduate of East Rutherford High School in the Class of 1968. Freddy was the manager of Community Cash Grocery Store in Forest City for 28 years and later worked for Acosta Food Brokers. He also served for 6 years in the United States Army Reserves.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ray Hugh Baynard, Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Hammett Baynard, his daughters, Kelly Wilkerson of Forest City, and Brooke Gulley and husband, Ired of Greensboro, his sister, Charlotte Baynard of Forest City and his grandchildren, Noah Wilkerson, Jude Wilkerson, Hud Gulley and Olive Gulley.

The funeral service will be held at 11am Saturday, March 28 in The Padgett and King Chapel with Rev. Kathy Houser officiating. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the mortuary.
