Free events at the Foundation; USAF Heritage band performs Saturday

There are two free upcoming events scheduled at the Foundation Performing Arts Center at Isothermal Community. The first event is this Saturday, March 11 at 7 p.m.

Although free, those planning to attend the events must reserve tickets to ensure seating.

The free performance on Saturday is by the USAF Heritage of America Band. Doors open at 6 p.m.

The Heritage of America Concert Band has entertained, educated and inspired millions across the east coast for over 80 years. The band has performed at thousands of high-profile community outreach and military events, produced over 55 highly-acclaimed recordings and collaborated with many world-renowned artists. The band is often featured on television, radio and social media, conveying the Air Force core values of integrity, service and excellence.

The Concert Band includes 45 professional Airmen who captivate audiences by telling the Air Force story, and also performing numerous renditions of great symphonic classics, marches, Broadway hits, jazz standards, movie music and patriotic favorites. In addition to performing standard repertoire, the Band is also a champion of new music, embodying the spirit of innovation that is inherent in today's Air Force.

The second free event will be on Saturday, April 1, as Doktor Baboom and The Wheel of Science will be featured. An official show of the NC State Science Fair, Doktor Baboom will take the stage at 11 a.m. Doors open at 10 a.m.

The show is created by David Epley, known as Doktor Kaboom, an German/American science communicator, stage actor and comedian.

Doktor Kaboom brings many of his science demonstrations to the show, through The Wheel of Science. Doktor Kaboom has built a great big spinning wheel and labeled it with everything from optical illusions to chemical reactions to a homemade hovercraft, and more. At least a dozen fantastic demonstrations will be presented.
