George Calvin Watson, Sr., age 84

George Calvin Watson, Sr., age 84, of Rutherfordton, passed away November 27, 2021.

George was born January 20, 1937 in Rutherford County, to the late John Watson and Aileen Copeland Watson. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served on one of the warship destroyers. George owned and operated "Shade Tree Garage". He worked at Torrington before retiring.

He was a long-time member of Grays Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Stanley and Howard Watson, and a granddaughter, Miranda Watson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his companion for over 20 years, Opal Thompson; children, Calvin Watson (Polly), Charles Anthony "Tony" Watson (Patricia), Maria Radford (Greg), Carmen Garren; brothers, Bill Watson, Frank Watson (Pat); three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, also a host of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was conducted December 2, 2021 at Kistlers Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
