George Garland Gilbert, age 92

George Garland Gilbert, age 92 of Rutherfordton passed away on June 14, 2021.

A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of Vance Allen and Bertha Edwards Gilbert.

In addition to his Parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Myrel Reed Gilbert, a brother, J.M. Gilbert, sisters Murleen Hall, Molee Marsh and Lillian Hobson.

Garland is survived by a brother, Wallace Gilbert of Lynchburg, VA and his four children, Daniel Gilbert and wife, Gale; Connie Ho and husband, Michael of North Myrtle Beach, SC; Carrie Taylor of Rutherfordton; Joy Huckno and husband, Wally of Myrtle Beach, SC. Eight Grandchildren, six great grandchildren.

A double Celebration of Life service to commemorate both Garland and Myrel was held in the Family Life Center of Spencer Baptist Church.
