George Oliver "Red" Bowen, Jr, age 85 of Forest City died Sunday, October 16, 2022.
Red, as he was known, was a native of Rutherford County and a son of the late George Oliver Bowen, Sr, and Alda Greene Bowen. He worked for many years in insurance sales and he, along with his wife were the owners and operators of Bowen's Drive In in Sandy Mush and later in Spindale.
He was a former member of Alexander Baptist Church and later joined Florence Baptist Church.
His brother Paul Bowen, and sisters, Betty Carver and Jane Burns preceded him in death.
Survivors include is wife of 61 years, Shirley Ball Bowen, daughter Diane Bowen Jones and husband Andy of Clermont, FL, two grandchildren.
The funeral service was held October 19 in The Padgett and King Chapel with Rev. Ricky Poteat officiating.
