Richard and Anita Behrns were recognized on All Saints Day Sunday at the Salem United Methodist Church in Bostic, for being servants in the community. They work at the Washburn Outreach Community Center more hours than anyone might recognize. Anita is the director of the center and she and Richard coordinate the weekly food pantry and volunteer at the outreach thrift store. They spend hours at the center and travel to Charlotte almost every week to pick up food for distribution at the center. The food pantry is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9 until 12:45 p.m. serving approximately 400 families each week. Pastor Sam Burleson thanked the couple for their service and presented them with several 'thank-you' cards from the church and center volunteers. After the outdoor ceremony, All Saints Day was observed inside as the church remembered the saints who passed away during the past year.
