Glen Howard Thompson, age 88, of Rutherfordton, NC, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

Glen was an avid hunter and outdoorsman who deeply loved his family, especially his grandkids. Glen was the son of the late William Wesley Thompson and the late Arlene Smith Thompson. In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by his brother, Arvol Thompson, and his sister, Janice Walker.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 70 years, Blanche Mathis Thompson; their children: Anita Jolley and great-grandson, Orion Thompson of Rutherfordton, Tina and Lisa Burnette and family of Harrisburg, Donna and Ronnie Gowan and family of Rutherfordton, Marty and Resa Thompson and family of Rutherfordton, Paula Preston and family of Rutherfordton, his brother, Joel and Patsy Thompson of Rutherfordton; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at Kistler's Chapel Methodist Church May 23 with Mitch Jolley officiating.
