Grace Melton Black, 89

Grace Melton Black, 89, died December 7, 2021.

Grace was born October 30, 1932, in Caroleen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Earl C Black, Jr.: parents, Hatcher and Maude Melton; sisters, Eris Yelton, Edith Hosler, Selma Hamrick, Jewelene "Judy" Perry, Margaret Tunnell; brother, Max Melton; and granddaughter, Lauren Dawson.

She graduated from Tri-Community High School and attended Brevard College.

Grace is survived by her children, Cliff Black (Diane) of Iron Station, Kathy Plowman (Ed) of Lakeland, Fla, Lake Junaluska, David Black (Lynn) of Lincolnton, Dawn Warren (Sabian) of Old Fort; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, brother Keith Melton (Ann); sister Anne Jones (Joe); and a number of nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 o'clock December 28, 2021, at First United Methodist Church of Forest City with the Rev. Bill Perry officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. Masks will be required at the service for the safety of those attending.
