Graduates from The Citadel; joins Duke Medical team

Jesse Burgess Crook graduated Magna Cum Laude from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. He was recognized at the nurse pinning ceremony as the outstanding nursing senior and was the recipient of the Lila K. Whetstone Caring Award. Jesse volunteered at many non-profits and had the most volunteer hours served by any senior- 653 hours.

Jesse is the son of Jim and Edie Lane Crook and grandparents are Betty Lane of Rutherfordton and Elsie Crook. Jesse accepted a position with Duke Medical Center as an orthopedic nurse.

While at The Citadel, Jesse was named to the President's List and was a Gold Stars Recipient multiple times. His junior year he was nominated by General Glenn M. Walters, President of the college, as a Newman Civic Fellow, "In word and deed, this exemplary nursing major demonstrates selfless service to his classmates and our community." Jesse had the distinct honor to be the recipient of The Ruben B. Pitts, III Memorial Award, given in memory of Cadet Ruben B. Pitts III, Class of 1963, to the junior cadet selected by his or her classmates as showing the greatest concern for the well-being of others.

Jesse was commissioned into the Army National Guard as a Distinguished Military Service Graduate. He was presented his diploma by his father, Jimmy Byrnes Crook, The Citadel class of 1988.
