Hazel Ayers, age 88

Hazel Ayers, age 88, of Forest City, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023.

Hazel was born September 1, 1934 in Cleveland County to the late Hoyt Mode and Grace Sailors Mode. She worked for Stonecutter Mill for many years and most recently for Watts Regulator before retirement. Hazel was a member of Campfield Memorial Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Doug Evans; grandchildren, Abbie Toney and Matthew Suttle and three brothers, Boyce, Jack and Bobby Mode.

Those left to cherish fond memories include her husband, Bobby Ayers; sons, Dean Blanton (Sharon) of Forest City, Dennis Thurman Evans (Sharon Bright) of Bostic, Christopher Ayers (Christy) of Mooresboro; daughters, Cathy Bennett (Jack) of Bostic, Brenda Ramsey (Greg) of Ellenboro, Tammy Melton of Forest City; sister, Donnis White of Shelby; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held August 19 at Campfield Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Nick King officiating.
