Sandra Mayse began working as an administrative secretary and secretary to the City Manager of Forest City. That was 36 years ago. The last 21 years at City Hall she was City Clerk. Of her job, Sandra says “I loved it! It was an honor and privilege to keep the towns records”. This lady definitely looked forward to going to work every day. Asked about memorable moments, she said “the frequent calls from citizens that offered thanks for keeping Forest City so clean and the beautiful displays of flowers throughout the year”. The explosion of lights downtown at Christmas time always brought expressions of thanks year after year. It was a time when Forest City became “the city of lights”. Asked if she would do it again, her reply was “definitely, my job was a blessing.”
Her last day proved to be “a lot of fun!” A special luncheon was held at the Forest City Clubhouse where it was proclaimed Sandra P. Mayse Day in the town. Family and friends were there to support Sandra on this special day. “It was a very nostalgic time for me”.
Now in retirement, Sandra looks forward to helping her husband Ron, who became a farmer about four years ago. Ron started raising South African Boer Goats. He has thirty goats, one lama, two miniature donkeys, and two calfs. She looks forward to traveling and competing in showing their goats. In addition to the shows, she also says that she will probably be cutting the grass on their 12 acres. Her most joyous time will be spent with her two grandchildren, twin girls Kinsley and Kailee, who attend Chase Middle School.
For her outstanding service to the community, we wish Sandra Mayse many blessings and a great retirement.
