Horace "Ray" Butler, age 81, of Ellenboro

Horace "Ray" Butler, age 81, of Ellenboro, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2026.

Ray was born January 29, 1945 in Rutherford County to the late Horace Elam Butler and Othene Johnson Butler. Ray worked 40 plus years in construction as an electrician.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Smith.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 30 years Sandi Butler; children, Kim Hamrick (Kenny) of Boiling Springs, Kelly Scruggs (Keith) of Forest City, Gary Woods (Melissa) of Oregon, Johnny Franklin (Michelle), of Ellenboro, Mike Franklin (Bridget) of Rutherfordton; a brother, Johnny Butler (Lynn) of Forest City, a sister, Betty Whiteside of Rutherfordton; 14 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren.

There will be a private gathering for immediate family only at a later date.
