Keeping Rutherford County Informed...Horsehead Continues Its Commitment With Second Town Hall Meeting

The Horsehead Corporation, getting ready to open its sixth facility in the United States in Rutherford County,  continues to avail itself to all citizens. The corporation will have the second “town hall” meeting on Tuesday, December 18th, 2 p.m., at the Hicks Grove Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Hicks Grove Baptist Church located at 508 Hicks Grove Road, Mooresboro, NC 28114 is adjacent to the new zinc plant. All citizens and residents of the Hicks Grove community are invited. The informal get-together will feature light refreshments and have a questions and answer session with Horsehead team members and neighbors. In addition a bus tour of the construction site will also be available.

Horsehead continues to be very open with information of this major impact on Rutherford County’s economy.

Their “Waelz kiln technology” has been designated by the U. S. EPA as the “Best Demonstrated Available Technology” for processing EAF dust. The electric arc furnace dust is generated by the steel industry. It is listed as hazardous waste and contains approximately 20% zinc. Horsehead reclaims this zinc.

The company is constantly dedicated to a high quality policy. “Every shipment is on time, ready for use and meets customer requirements.” In achieving this, Horsehead manages its business carefully in order to provide the health and safety of their people with very heavy emphasis on protecting the environment. This zinc supplier also places great importance on their employees. They consider them the keys to the future.

The second “town hall” format meeting is yet another example of Horsehead’s continued commitment to keep the local gentry not only well informed but to also continually listen to the community - its question and concerns. They place great emphasis on community involvement. Their environmental policy is also foremost in their operation. They seek to emphasize good citizenship, promote environmental awareness and constantly strive to improve and be better in all phases of their operation.
