Hubert L. Hardin, age 93 of Forest City died Saturday, August 23, 2025.

Hubert was born February 19, 1932, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Dewey L. Hardin and Annie Haulk Hardin.

Hubert was a member of the First Wesleyan Church of Forest City, a graduate of Harris High School, and he honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Hubert worked for many years at Fieldcrest Cannon Textiles. After the plant closed, he went to work for the Rutherford County Sheriffs Department where he worked as an Inmate Transfer Officer until his retirement.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Jean Davis Hardin, his sisters, Frances Brantley, Helen Davis, and Peggy Hardin, and his brothers, Howard Hardin, Mickey Hardin, and Ronnie Hardin.

Survivors include his son, Joey Hardin and wife Tracy of Forest City, his granddaughter, Skylar Hardin of Forest City, his sisters, Dot DeBrule and Susie Hardin both of Forest City, his brother, Tim Hardin of Forest City, his brother-in-law, Raymond Davis (Lucia) of Rutherfordton, his sisters-in-law, Carolyn Vess and husband Harold of Asheville, and Elsie Robinson of Old Fort as well as many nieces an nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 3pm Saturday, August 30 at First Wesleyan Church with Rev. Eric Yelton officiating. Interment will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends in the church Sanctuary from 2-3pm prior to the service. The Rutherford County Sheriffs Office will post guard during the visitation.
