Janie Faye Owens, age 83 of Forest City

Janie Faye Owens, age 83 of Forest City died Saturday, August 22, 2026.

Janie was born May 25, 1943, in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late John Augustus Sims and Janie Frances Camp Sims.

Janie was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and had also attended Cross Link Church. She worked for Stonecutter Mills for many years until her retirement.

Janie was preceded in death by her husband, George Maurice Owens, her sons, Maurice Anthony (Andy) Owens, John Alfred (Johnny) Owens, her brother, Floyd Sims, her sister, Mary Sins McAbee and her son-in-law, Perry D. Stephens.

Survivors include her daughters, Donna Faye Owens and Tammy Lorraine Stephens, both of Forest City, 8 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 1pm Saturday, August 29 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Cody Allen and Rev. Trey Beaty officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 11 until 12:45 prior to the service in the Sanctuary.
