Jerry D. Farmer, age 94, of Rutherfordton

Jerry D. Farmer, age 94, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Thursday, June 5, 2025.

He was the son of the late Grover Guy Farmer and the late Blanche Cone Farmer and a native of Nash County. He was preceded in death by his wife Jackie Cockrell Farmer, an infant son, and a brother, Guy Farmer. Jerry was a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and served in the U S Navy attaining the rank of lieutenant. Jerry began his business career with Burlington Industries in Burlington and then moved to the J C Cowan plant in Forest City as Production Planning Manager where he retired. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his two daughters Kay Harrill and Sue Bruce (Bill), five grandchildren Tyler Harrill (Meagan), Clay Harrill, Evan Harrill, Katherine Bruce and Maggie Bruce and four great-grandchildren.

The memorial service was held First Baptist Church of Rutherfordton on June 9 with Rev. Aimee Hobbs officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to First Baptist Church; 246 N. Main St., Rutherfordton, NC 28139. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the family.
