Joann Hawkins Hollifield, age 65

Joann Hawkins Hollifield, age 65, of Forest City, NC passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013.

Joann was born August 4, 1947 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Paul T. Hawkins and Madelyne “Matt” Scruggs Hawkins who resides in Forest City. Joann was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1965 and a member of Sandy Mush Baptist Church. She was a homemaker who enjoyed shopping, helping others and spending time with her grandchildren. She also attended Caroleen Baptist Church.

     In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years, Steve Hollifield; sister in-law, Agnes Hawkins and one infant great grandson, Andre Moore, Jr.

     Besides her mother, she is survived by, one son, Brian Hollifield and wife, Betty; one daughter, Stephenie Hollifield all of Caroleen; two brothers, Jimmy Hawkins and Tim Hawkins and wife, Kim also of Caroleen; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

     Graveside services were conducted at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Lanny J. Funchess officiating.
