John Clarence Clark, 81

John Clarence Clark, 81, of Spartanburg, SC, formerly of Chapin, SC passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023.

John was born October 17, 1941, to the late Clarence Cecil and Ethel West Clark in Spindale, NC. John graduated from Harris High School and was a member of RS Central High School Class of 1960. He served in the United States Air Force, graduated from Gardner Webb College, and Winthrop College. He retired from Thermo Industries as Vice President Corporate Credit Manager and was on the Board of Directors for National Association of Credit Management where he also served as Chairman of The Board NACM 1987-1988.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Margaret Wallis Clark, Spartanburg SC, his children, John Chris Clark (Lori Bailey Clark) of Ellenboro, Cindy Clark Gasperson (Randy Gasperson) of Rutherfordton, and Carrie Clark-Mustin of York, SC and his stepson Rodney McClure (Judy McClure) Columbia SC, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Wayne H. Clark, sister, Carol Clark Padgett, and his late wife Laura B. Clark.

A celebration of life will be held at 1pm Saturday, September 30, in the Crowe's Mortuary Chapel in Rutherfordton. The family will receive friends starting at noon. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, Forest City with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in John's memory may be made to the organization of your choice.
