John Henry Champion, Jr, age 69

John Henry Champion, Jr, age 69 of the Sunshine Community, died August 11, 2021.

John was born in Rutherford County on June 14, 1952 and was a son of the late John Henry Champion, Sr. and Ina Mae Price Champion. He worked for Coates North American Thread in Marion for a number of years where he retired. John was a member Mt. Harmony Baptist Church where he served on the Cemetery Committee, House and Grounds and Food Committee. He enjoyed working in his yard and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Champion.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian Toney Champion, a brother, Burgin Champion and wife Darlene of Forest City, his sister, Judy Edwards and husband Mike of Forest City as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral was held August 14, 2021 at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Cooper officiating.
