John Murray, age 74

John Murray, age 74, of Caroleen, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2022.

John was born February 20, 1948 in Rutherford County to the late Golden Valley Murray and Blanche Hastings Murray. He was a graduate of Chase High School. John worked in textiles in his younger years and then worked as a mechanic for the NC Department of Transportation for over 20 years and the local Head Start Program as a bus driver and substitute teacher. He was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter Lisa Grayson, sisters Betty Rayfield, Roxanne Nanney, brother Jessie Murray and two grandchildren.

Left to cherish fond memories are his wife of 36 years, Deb Murray, children Tammy Bailey (Randy) of Forest City, Michael Murray (Audrey) of Rutherfordton, Wendi Burke (Jerry) of Forest City, John V. Murray of Green Hill, Amy Murray (Chris) of Mt. Holly and Chris Grayson of Gastonia; sisters, Lorene "Pete" Scoggins of Rutherfordton, Kathleen Henson (Don) of Harris and brother, Ernest Murray (Leah) of Caroleen, sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

No formal services will be conducted.
